What is the PTA and what do we do?
- The PTA of the International School of Helsingborg consists of the 3
Principals/Co-ordinators and 4 (ideally more) volunteer parents.
- We are a vital link in the communication between administration and parents through regular meetings, our newsletter and email address.
- We sponsor events such as the Winter and Spring Fairs, the Welcome Evening
and activities like Coffee Mornings to build our sense of community, promote our school and raise money.
- We use our funds to create a better school environment by supplying extra materials or equipment.
Did you know that the PTA ...
- donates 50 Kronor for every child in the school towards the cost of class trips.
- has recently bought new team shirts with the school logo for our students competing in sports events.
- has bought artificial grass for the playing field.
- has provided free after school guitar lessons for a term as part of its Enrichment Programme, and subsidised the cost for continuing students for a second term.
- has bought books for the library, including the publication of an anthology of
poetry written by ISH students.
- has funded the purchase of national flags representing the nationalities of our students to brighten up the MYP corridors.
- has contributed money towards the hiring of a Marimba band to entertain PYP as part of the festivities for their recent International Day.
Where do we get the money to do this?
- We raise funds through a variety of activities (thanks to hard working parent and staff volunteers) BUT we also need voluntary donations from parents who are committed to helping create a better school environment for their children.
What can you do to help support your school?
- We hope that you are willing to support the PTA’s efforts by making a donation
on behalf of your child. A suggested donation for the 2009-10 school year is 300 SEK per student or 500 SEK for families with more than 1 student at the school.
If you prefer you can always make a donation towards the library or the sports department. This can be deposited directly to the PTA by using the bank giro number 5605-0214 but we’re always happy to take cash to the bank, too!
Thanks for your support! It’s for a good cause – your children.

The PTA Mission:
- Actively encouraging parental involvement within the school.
- Raise money for social and educational school activities.
- Plan, organise and sponsor extra curriculum activities and events.
- Play an active role in helping families and school staff to adjust to a new
environment.
- To act as an ambassador of goodwill for the school and promoting the ISH
to the broader community.
- Contribute to the international diversity of the ISH by supporting activities
to create understanding, openness and respect towards different cultural
backgrounds manners and customs.
How we achieve this:
- PTA Board comprising of 5 volunteer parents plus School Principle and
Coordinators for PYP, MYP and Diploma programs
- Raising money through organising social events, spring fair and annual family
donation
- Providing communication to all parents and extra communication to new parents
and teacher
The PTA is able to make contributions toward improving the physical and educational environment at ISH through a variety of fundraising activities, but mainly through
voluntary membership fees we collect at the beginning of every school year.
Last year 70% of our families contributed, and we are hoping for 100% this year.
The fees for the 2009-10 school year are 300 SEK per student, 500 SEK for
families with more than 1 student at the school.
These can be deposited directly to the PTA by using the bank giro number:
5605-0214 (please note children’s names/grades on the form).
